I decided to start a WEB LOG to journal all of my fond memories of the Go G!rls. It is no surprise that I am one their biggest fans..

Who hasn't heard of the Go G!rls?

Their name is synonymous with one of the Biggest Hits of 2003... Bayani Agbayani's "Otso-Otso" & Otso Pasko. They also have single "Shake, Shake" on the album "Mag Otso Otso Tayo Bayan", which IMHO is a great song.

Formed in October 2002 by Bobby Catimbang of the popular all-male dance group Maneouvres and managed by veteran dancer and choreographer Mia Divinagracia, the GoGirls have achieved quite a lot in such a short time.

Mia (with husband Bobby and brother Deo) manages both the GoGirls as well as their sister group, the Flawless Girls, who are fixtures in a number of TV shows. The GoGirls are the original Otso-Otso babes of ABS-CBN’s MTB (Magandang Tanghali Bayan). They have been awarded a Double Platimum by Star Records for their three songs in the Mag-Otso-Otso Tayo Bayan album. They were also nominated as ALIW Best Dance Group of the Year. Their fan base is nationwide, having toured major malls around the country with Willie Revillame as well as the wacky duo of Maverick and Ariel. They now appear on IBC 13’s Chowtime Na and their own dance album is to be released very soon.

Their career started when they were launched in a mall tour that featured singing idol-TV host-model-actor Cody Moreno of then Icon Records in late 2002. Stints on ABS-CBN’s daily noontime show MTB (Magandang Tanghali Bayan, which later became Masayang Tanghali Bayan) immediately followed, and ironically, they were also regular fixtures on GMA 7’s Beh Bote Nga. Their exposure on TV strengthened when they were tapped to help promote Sony Records’ Asereje.

With the assistance of Solid Gold alumnus and senior VIP dancer Dindo Divinagracia, the GoGirls made guests and attendees of many corporate events, product launches, private functions and all sorts of shows and parties including some of Metro Manila’s hottest venues grin with happiness with their vibrant dance numbers.

The big break for the girls came with Bayani Agbayani’s monster hit Otso-Otso as the back-up dancers in the official music video. Star Records recognized their capability to sing and they were given their own single, Shake, Shake (specially written for them by Lito Camo who composed Otso-Otso, the SexBombs’ Spageti and the Viva Hot Babes’ Bulaklak). They are presently recording their solo album produced by Camo scheduled for release very soon. Along with the Gee Girls, and the MTB Dancers, they provided color and spice to Masayang Tanghali Bayani.

They are also part of the "Otso-Otso", "Pito-Pito" and "Star in a Million" tours by Bayani Agbayani and Willie Revillame.

They have also conquered advertising having been chosen as endorsers of Jocks Sports and Street Gear. Together with teen idol Heart Evangelista, they did the WRR 101.9 FM TV commercial. They also roam the country doing show endorsing "Jock Sportwear" or guesting for local events. The Go girls have appeared on several shows like "It Might Be You" and Basta't Kasama Kita", "OK, Fine Whatever". They have guested on GMA 7's Master Showman on several occasions.

The Girls are currently the resident dancers of "It's Chow time Na" which airs on IBC 13 , 11-12 am Mondays to Saturdays.

You can also catch them as the "Go Barako Girls" on the 2004 PBA Grand Matador Fiesta Conference. The Go Girls (Khatie,Mica,CheChe,Janice & KatKat) have also appeared on MZone! Magazine. A few of the Girls (Princess, Che-Che, Khatie and Juwin) are seen in the music Videos of Parokya ni Edgar (Mr Suave,Yes Yes Show) and Gloc9 ("Kailan"). Juwin appears as one of the girls in the Creamsilk Challenge commercial.

WHILE others may be attending parties in their eerie costumes on November 1, the GoGirls and the Flawless Girls will be rocking Isla Baile Restobar in Boracay in their sexiest outfits and hottest grooves.

Dubbed Sexy, Beachy Halloween!, the event is a first of its kind: back-to-back dance concert/fashion show featuring the pretty and talented girls of TV dance. It’s a non-stop showdown of beauty, talent and energy, then world-class master-mixer Manolet Dario synchs in to keep the adrenaline pumping until dawn.

The Halloween fiesta with the girls also signals the opening of Isla Baile Restobar, a hip venue owned and operated by three enterprising dancers – Mia Divinagracia Catimbang, Juvy Zamora and Jean Gonzalo (wives of Manoeuvres – Bobby, Joshua and the late Totit, respectively) who fell in love with Boracay and wanted to make their mark in the island’s party scene.

PBA Update ACES, TURBO CHARGERS PREVAIL

The Alaska Aces exploited the absence of Davonn Harp and Mick Pennisi to beat Red Bull Barako, 79-71, while the Shell Turbo Chargers upset the San Miguel Beermen, 70-67, Wednesday night in the Gran Matador-PBA Philippine Cup at the Araneta Coliseum.
Rookie guard Celino Cruz made two free throws with 13.6 seconds left to give the Turbo Chargers a three-point lead and then Shell went on to win as the Beermen missed on three open tying 3-point attempts before time expired.

Ronald Tubid collected 18 points and had three blocks while Billy Mamaril had 14 markers and eight boards for the Turbo Chargers, who tied the Coca-Cola Tigers at second place with its third win in four games and right behind idle leader Talk N Text.

Danny Ildefonso, Nic Belasco and Dorian Pena registered double-double efforts but none of them could save the Beermen when the team needed the big basket most.

Even against a severely depleted Red Bull squad, the Aces still had to walk the tightrope before nailing their first win and snap a three-game skid to pull abreast with the Barakos at 1-3.

Mike Cortez scored 16 points, including six of his team's last 11 points as the Aces held off Red Bull's last ditch rally.

The absence of Harp and Pennisi didn't seem to dampen the spirits of the Barakos but the duo left a huge hole in the shaded lane, eventually taking its toll as Alaska pounded Red Bull off the boards, 57-36.

Alaska rookie center Sonny Thoss seized the moment to shine, leading all scorers with career-high 21 points that went with his 15 rebounds for his second double-double effort of the season.

"Sonny is really a revelation. He's really something," said Alaska coach Tim Cone in praise of his prized rookie.

But Cone also admitted that "we were fortunate that Harp and Pennisi weren't playing tonight."

Aside from Harp and Pennisi, indefinitely suspended by PBA commissioner Noli Eala along with Jon Ordonio after the Department of Justice revoked their certificate of recognition, Red Bull also played minus wingman Junthy Valenzuela, who sat the game due to injury.

"Hope this (victory) could be a springboard and pull us a little bit forward," Cone said.

The Aces, who played without injured forward Don Allado, practically dominated the first half as the Barakos came out looking confused, shooting poorly and with hardly any semblance of defense.

With Thoss visibly overmatched against Rico Villanueva, Alaska raced to a 22-8 lead after one quarter and stretched it to 32-17 midway through the second period.

But the Barakos slowly picked up their rhythm, wresting the upperhand for the first time at 54-53 on a steal and a basket by Cyrus Baguio early in the fourth canto.

Red Bull held the lead until midway of the fourth but blew their chances with two bad passes that led to four quick points by Alaska before Eugene Tejada knocked in a 3-point shot to move up for good, 66-61, with 4:38 left.

Villanueva led Red Bull's offense with 19 points and Jimwell Torion, returning to active duty after serving a lengthy suspension, added 14 points, seven boards and nine assists in a sterling comeback.

Shell took advantage of Marlou Aquino’s early exit due to a shin injury, scoring its first back-to-back victories under coach Leo Austria with an 84-78 whipping of Sta. Lucia Realty in the Gran Matador-PBA Philippine Cup at the Philsports Arena Friday night.
The 6-foot-9 Aquino hurt his right shin on a collision with Billy Mamaril late in the second quarter and became useless for the remainder of the game.

The Turbochargers didn’t let the good opportunity go to waste, launching a vicious attack in the second half en route to their second win in three starts in the season-opening tourney.

“Malaking bagay yung pagkawala ni Marlou kasi bigla kaming nagkaroon ng inside game. Tapos sumunod na ang shooting namin,” said Austria.

“This game is very important for us because this team hasn’t won back-to-back games for a long time,” added Austria whose Turbochargers fashioned out a 93-86 come-from-behind win over the Red Bull Barakos in Cagayan de Oro Tuesday.

Learning their lessons versus the Turbochargers, the Barakos played hard to the finish against the Purefoods Hotdogs, hacking out an emphatic 101-81 victory in Friday’s other game.

The Barakos, who were led by the 25 points of Lordy Tugade and a career-high 24 from Rico Villanueva, led by as much as 25 against Purefoods to check their two-game skid and at the same time stop the Hotdogs’ two-game romp.

And the future looks brighter for Red Bull as it welcomes the return of ace point guard Jimwell Torion from a three-game suspension on Wednesday against Alaska. It’s still uncertain whether coach Yeng Guiao will finally insert in his lineup returnee Nelson Asaytono and new acquisition Omanzie Rodriguez.

The Realtors went without a basket for over four minutes as Aquino limped out of the court and had his injured shin applied with an ice pack on the bench.

In that stretch, Kenneth Duremdes actually sank a short jumper which was nullified by the referees on an accidental offensive goal-tending by rookie teammate Nelbert Omolon. That infraction led to bungled plays one after the other by the Realtors and the eventual breakaway by the Turbochargers.

Tony dela Cruz, outshone by Ronald Tubid and Rich Alvarez in their first two games, carried the bulk of scoring load for Shell this time, scoring nine of his game-high 24 points in the last five minutes of the third and helping Shell come back from a 44-48 deficit to take a 61-53 lead into the fourth quarter.

The Turbochargers enjoyed their biggest lead at 68-56 and kept the Realtors at bay the rest of the way.

After limiting themselves to a league all-time low of four turnovers versus the Barakos, the Turbochargers committed nearly two dozens this time but made up for these with hustle plays.

Omolon’s offensive interference on Duremdes’ basket prevented the Realtors from tying the count at 50-all.

Dela Cruz scored on a short stab in the ensuing play then Rensy Bajar followed it up with a short jumper of his own, capping a 10-to-nothing run that gave Shell a 54-48 bubble.

I would like to put a related post here.. about the sister group of the Go Gi!rls on "It's Chowtime Na"

New teen pop group records debut album

Their common fondness for music is what made eight girls to form an all – female sing and dance group called Sooper Babes. The group is warming up the music scene with the ditty (I Wanna Play Beyblade), the first single off the dance album entitled Sooper Cheezey Tunes on Galaxy Records. While it’s still hot in the music chart, Sooper Babes is following it up with another biggie, Sooper Baby Lav, also from their debut album.

As their songs gain momentum on radio airplay, it’s interesting to meet them up close. Comprising the octet are Joy Santos, Joyce De Guzman, Jackie Lim, Lou Ann Cruz, Ohna Guisadio, Ria Canlas, Triza Tan and Venus Sedillo who all have dreams to fulfill in the world of OPM pop music.

Born under the sign of Aquarius, Joy is 16 and full of zest. She joined the group because she feels doing so a step toward stardom. She also aspires to be a beauty queen who will someday represent the Philippines in an international pageant.

At 18 Joyce, believes everybody can make her dreams come true as long as one works hard. She always keeps this in mind in whatever endeavor she does!

Jackie is of Filipino-Chinese descent. She wants to become a famous ramp model. She has already posed for Bench and Dickies print ads. She also wants to be a doctor who will treat the less fortunate.

Of the eight Sooper Babes, Lou Ann is the only one who had showbiz experience before joining the group, Lou Ann used to be a member of ABS-CBN Children’s Show, Pahina, a few years ago. She has also appeared in commercials.

Ohna is a Sooper Babe who loves to read. For her, it’s the best hobby girls her age should have to acquire more knowledge about the things around them. What she wants to prove as a singer is that OPM artists can be world-class talents like Jennifer Lopez or Shakira, etc., if given proper break.

Another 19-year-old Sooper Babe is Ria who is gifted with a soprano voice. She wants to follow in the footsteps of Regine Velasquez and Carol Banawa.

Turning 18 this October is Triza who is a Libran. Like a true Libran, Triza loves to interact with people from all walks of life.

The youngest among the Sooper Babes is Venus. She just turned 15. She was raised in Australia but considers the Philippines her home. She returned to Manila to pursue her dream of becoming a recording artist.

Their common fondness for music is what initiated six (6) girls to form OPM industry’s all-female sing & dance group called Sooper Babes. The group is warming the music scene with the ditty, I Wanna Play (Beyblade), first single off the dance album entitled “Sooper Cheezey Tunes” on Galaxy Records. While it’s still hot in the music chart, Sooper Babes is following it up with another biggie, Sooper Baby Lav, also from their debut album.



As their song gains momentum on radio airplay, it’s interesting to meet them up close. Comprising the octet are: Joy Santos, Joyce de Guzman, Jackie Lim, Ria Canlas, Triza Tan and Venus Sedillo who each has her own dream to fulfill in the world of OPM pop music.

Born under the sign of Aquarius, Joy is 16 years old and full of zest for life. She joined the group because she feels it’s a step toward stardom. She also aspires to be a beauty queen who will someday represent the Philippines in an international pageant.

At 18 years old, Joyce believes that everybody can make her dreams come true if only she will strive hard. She always keeps this in mind in whatever endeavor she does!
Jackie is of Filipino-Chinese descent who desires to be a famous ramp model. She has already posed for Bench and Dickies print ads. Someday, she wants to be a doctor who will serve the less fortunate.

Another 19-year-old Sooper Babe is Ria who is gifted with a soprano voice. She wants to follow the footsteps of her idols Regine Velasquez and Carol Banawa.

Turning 18 years old this October is Triza, a Libran. Like those born under the sign, Triza loves to interact with people from all walks of life. She can get along easily with people she meets.

The youngest among the Sooper Babes is Venus who just turned 15 years old. She was raised in Australia but considers the Philippines as her homeland. She came back to Manila to pursue her dream of becoming a recording artist.

Sooper Babes! They’re the newest teen pop group invading the OPM scene with a fresh and vibrant style. And just like the Beyblade craze, the girls’ journey to stardom is proving to be fun and exciting.
